Darren McFadden needs to rub some dirt on it and get back out there.. just kidding. Didn't Mark Bavaro of the NY Giants in the 80s'/90s have turf toe also?

Any idea what grade of injury they have. Is turf toe the name for all three grades of the injury? sounds like someone really couldn't play football at all with a grade 3 injury, letless walk around.

thank you for the information. Your website had the most details concerning heel pain and injury that i found. it was very helpful. I fell down 3 steps and landed hard on my heel a few wks ago. I have been trying to walk regular on the foot and constantly have some pain when i put full weight on it. otherwise i do not experience any discomfort or swelling. now i see that i need to keep off it for a # of more wks.

I think I may have one of these fractures. It started with a "freak" accident of dropping a board on top of my foot over a year ago. I wore a surgical boot several months to help the injury, a hairline fracture, heal. About 3 months ago, I noticed a bony bump on the bottom/right side of my right foot. I went back to the podiatrist/surgeon who had done plantar fasciotomy on that foot and the other foot, as well, and had x-rays & MRI done. He said it looked like a dislocated bone and referred me to another orthopedic doctor. I go to him tomorrow. Since it is so unusual and atypical of the places in the foot to have this kind of injury, I am wondering if this might be a Lisfranc injury. Fortunately, I have not had any major pain, which the podiatrist thought unusual, also. After reading up on this, and if it turns out to be the diagnosis, I wonder what the treatment will be. The podiatrist thought the bone could be shaved, but he thought it would be a shame to have to do that to a perfectly good bone. I will try to update on my new doctor's findings.

It depends on what is causing the nail to turn brown. It could be a fungus, or it could be caused by repetitive microtrauma. Sometimes diseases like psoriasis cause thickened, brown nails, in other cases poor circulation can cause the discoloration. If it's an isolated brown spot, it could be a small area of blood under the nail which is harmless. An unlikely, but worse case scenario is a melanoma.

There are limited over the counter treatments for Raynaud's and prescription treatment depends on the severity. You may want to approach your doctor with this diagnosis or consider taking pictures of your feet or hands when they become severe, so he or she may have a better idea of the how to approach or treat the condition.

I believe I may have this condition. So far, no doctor, specialist or podiatrist has brought Raynaud's up as a possible explanation. The symptoms you describe seem to fit perfectly. Would appreciate any more advice you can give re: treatment and therapy.

Custom shoes and custom orthotics have different functions. A custom made orthotic is designed to control abnormal motion and assist in pathologic foot conditions. These orthotics need to be molded by a podiatrist or physical therapist.

But, if you are simply looking for better comfort and fit, then yes a custom orthotic, purchased over the internet, would be cheaper than custom shoes.

At 4 weeks after a bunionectomy, you are still in the healing process. But, if you want a second opinion, you should ask your primary doctor for a recommendation and seek a second opinion.

Instead of custom shoes, a less expensive alternative is custom orthotics. I found some at the Orthotic Shop that I'm thinking about buying. Do you think that it's a good idea?

I am recovering from the 2nd - of two, bunionectomy w/osteotomy. The 2nd surgery is NOT healing as quickly - or correctly. When I viewed the pictures of the foot, I saw one diagram which shows the vein/muscle I am sure has been - somehow, pinched - or caught. Immediately after the surgery, I alerted the nurses and the resident of the discomfort/numbness at the base of the 4 toes, and the feeling of something being pulled "too tight". At the time I believed it was the bandages. Now, at the beginning of my 4th week since the surgery, I am aware of "something" being out of place, and the surgeon seems less than willing to DO anything more than LOOK at it tomorrow. After my concerns being ignored for enough days to give me FULL RECOVERY - yet, I can't put full weight on the foot, I am not willing to "see" my surgeon - again.

What is the etiquette for seeing a surgeon who is willing to correct another surgeon's error?

We don't have a place on the store website for customers to write comments on products. We do have a
forum with an area for comments on products, but this has not been widely used.
