Timberland are usually great boots, they tend to have a more rigid sole, so they have a lot of support. Because these boots extend past the ankle, they also offer ankle support. They are good quality leather boots, so they will last you a long time. But, the down side of an all leather boot is that they are not very breathable. Cotton socks, leather boots and a lot of walking can result in a lot of blisters. You may want to invest in a few pairs of
wicking socks. It doesn't sound like these will be your travel boots, I think the other boots would be better for travel, but in general this is a great boot.
