Arrow plantar fasciitis taping

I found quite a few people looking for plantar fasciitis taping. I wonder if taping for plantar fasciitis is recommended by podiatrist. If yes, would anyone here like to shed some light on plantar fasciitis taping. Is there any particular type of tape recommended by podiatrist.

If anyone has used plantar fasciitis taping techniques do feel free to share your thoughts.
Thanks

Default Plantar Fasciitis Taping

Yes, most podiatrists recommend taping for plantar fasciitis, but it is typically done in the office setting as it is difficult to do on one's own foot. There are many different methods for taping. The goal for all the taping methods is to take the stress off of the plantar fascia. Once someone learns the right way to tape the foot, I think they can tape effectively. I would be interested to know what types of taping methods people are using and if they have had success.

The picture attached is an example of one method of taping for plantar fasciitis.

Smile plantar fasciitis taping

Thank you for posting a image of plantar fasciitis taping. I did get the answer to my question regarding Plantar Fasciitis taping. What type of of tape is used in this picture? Are there any particular tapes recommended? and how difficult is it to do your own taping?

Default Plantar Fasciitis Taping

In the picture 1" and 2" sports tape is used. Bandage tapes typically do not adhere well to the skin.

It can be difficult to do the plantar fasciitis taping on your own foot because you need to hold down the big toe joint (creating a high arch) when bringing the tape around from the outside of the foot in towards the arch. It is recommended to use sports tape adherent before applying the tape (and this can be found at many drug stores), so the tape will stay on for a longer period of time.

Default Plantar fasciitis taping

I had taping done by a physical therapist for my plantar fasciitis. He did a criss cross type pattern on the bottom of my foot. He went from my little toe, around my heel and to my big toe first. Then started at the heel on one side and crossed over to the other side - big toe first and then 5th toe. Does that make sense? It looks kind of similar to the picture above.

I've been in physical therapy twice a week and I think out of all the treatments for my plantar fasciitis that I've had in physical therapy, the taping has helped the most. I'm not sure I could do this myself, but I haven't tried yet.

Default Plantar fasciitis taping

I have posted pictures of step by step instructions for one method of plantar fasciitis taping.

There are many different variations on this type of taping method for plantar fasciitis, some will cross the strips on the bottom of the foot, and some will tape from the back of the heel to the forefoot. The technique in the pictures wraps 2" sports tape from the outside of the foot, to the inside of the arch. Many doctors and physical therapists will develop their own techniques based on what they think works best. The idea is the same - to take the stress off the plantar fascia.
