Default achilles Tendon Problem

Hi
I wonder if you can give me some advice

I recently 6 weeks ago developed an Achilles tendon problem

After some jogging day the next morning I developed a small (hard) Lump approx 30mm above the heel, and which is approx 10 mm in diameter

PS Previous Jogging did have a Little discomfort in that area

After reading some Achilles tendon Internet sites, I stopped My Running and concentrated on stretching and strengthening of the calf muscles as instructed and using some ice to help the inflammation

At the time when I discovered the problem there was a small ache but after a few steps in the morning I was walking Ok with little discomfort

Today Things are more are less the same since I started the excercise approx 5 weeks ago It is No worse than it was , so it does not seem that the exercise are causing Any further problems ,
But the Small Lump is still present can you please advice that through continuous Exercises This will disperse and disappear or should seek some medical Advice

Default Achilles tendonitis/tendinosis

You have taken all the right steps: decreasing activity as soon as you noticed the problem, icing, stretching and strengthening. But, since you have made little progress, it sounds like it is time to make a visit to your doctor. You may need a period of immobilization and eccentric training exercises with a physical therapist. Although treatment for Achillles tendonitis (the early inflammatory stage) and Achilles tendinosis (the later degenerative stage - marked by less inflammation and more thickening of the tendon) can take a number of months, I would have expected at least some progress at 5-6 weeks.

Make an appointment with your doctor (your GP or, if possible, with an orthopedist or a podiatrist). In the meantime, continue your current therapy making sure not to overstretch your Achilles. Also, make sure your shoes have a heel (1" wedged heel preferably) or use a heel lift in your shoe to reduce pressure on the Achilles tendon, avoid going up steep hills and minimize use of stairs (if possible).
